Oh! Italia
Italy is a country of history, a country of cheerful people, and a country of songs and guitars.
About 30 years ago, my wife and I went to Italy on a honeymoon and visited Rome. Colosseum, Roman Forum, Trevi Fountain, and the Vatican. They are the roots of European culture and the supreme wisdom of those times.
But what I think now is that we should also have been in another Italy, Venice. A town swayed by a gondola, living with water, and Canzone. It’s a dream Italy that I’ve only seen in pictures.

Last year I suddenly decided to start composing, and the first thing I should do was making a song of this dream Italian town. I’ve never studied specially for composition. So, I sang with the idea, “I try to sing as if I were an Italian singer”, and this melody was born. I just added harmony and bass to it, didn’t try to make it a good song, but just tried to complete one song anyway. That’s the song of my work number 1.
When I said to my wife “This is the song I just made”, she said “I thought it was a song in books”. So I got to have a little confident in my composition.
This song has some repeats on the score, but I didn’t repeat them in my performance above. This is because my poor performance may be exposed 🙂
