Medieval Villages – No.3

Looking at photos of medieval villages brings to mind many songs. The theme of No.1 was ‘Early Spring’, No.2 was ‘Early Summer’. And this No.3 is ”Late Summer.”

This No.3 suite comprises four short songs titled Morning, Noon, Evening and Bells.

Last year, I once completed this suite by writing three songs: Morning, Evening, and Bells, but for this release, I decided to create Noon. At first, I wasn’t conscious of the changes throughout the day, but when I write the titles of each song into the score, I thought it would be better to include Noon. As a result, I was pleased with the increased variety. The great thing about suites is that they allow for this kind of compositional freedom.

In this suite, Evening and Bells are in reverse order in terms of time. However I thought it would be better musically to put Bells last, so I decided not to be too concerned about the time.

This autumn, I will make a suite about autumn village as No.4. It may be released next year.

I have currently written 3 suites of ‘Medieval Villages’;
No.1 Early Spring
No.2 Early Summer
・No.3 Late Summer
and plan to write 2 more.
